Storyline
In the confines of his prison cell, Sivaji finds himself reflecting on the series of events that led to his current predicament — being detained for a series of alleged financial infractions. After returning to Chennai from the United States with hopes of living a peaceful life alongside his parents and maternal uncle, he had envisioned investing in schools and hospitals to benefit the less fortunate. Much to his dismay, these noble intentions ruffled the feathers of Adisheshan, an influential and unscrupulous figure, who felt threatened by Sivaji's plans. Ignoring Adisheshan's warnings and determined to set his projects in motion, Sivaji soon found himself entangled in a web of bureaucratic corruption. So much so, that he was compelled to resort to bribery, handing over Rs.4 Crores to an official to ensure the completion of his Rs.200 Crore project. This action infuriated Adisheshan, who then leveraged his political connections to halt Sivaji's work. Undeterred, Sivaji liquidated most of his assets and further bribed the politician with Rs.50 Crores. In the midst of these challenges, Sivaji was romantically pursuing Tamizhselvi/Vidyabharti Ramlingam, hoping for marriage. Unfortunately, his plans hit another roadblock when a new politician, demanding another bribe of Rs.50 Crores, took office and halted his project. Unable to meet this demand, Sivaji sought legal recourse but was unsuccessful, leaving him financially depleted. Adding insult to injury, Tamizhselvi declined his marriage proposal, citing astrological incompatibility. As he revisited these unfortunate series of events from his prison cell, feeling betrayed and helpless, Sivaji could do little more than come to terms with the fate his adversaries had carved out for him.
Plot
Sivaji Arumugam, an accomplished Indian software engineer, returns to India after a decade-long stint in the United States. His vision is to create a non-profit organization, the Sivaji Foundation, dedicated to providing free education and healthcare for the underprivileged. However, this noble mission is seen as a threat by Aathiseshan, a powerful politician and industrialist with a network of for-profit institutions. To establish the Sivaji Foundation, Sivaji is coerced by Aathiseshan into paying a series of bribes to various governmental bodies for necessary approvals. As the demands escalate, Sivaji exhausts his wealth, is compelled to mortgage his property, and even sell his possessions. Amidst these challenges, Sivaji falls for Tamizhselvi, a modest and conventional saleswoman at a music store. Despite initial apprehension, Tamizhselvi and her family eventually warm up to Sivaji. However, a foreboding astrological prediction threatens their union, predicting financial and personal ruin for Sivaji. Despite this, Sivaji convinces Tamizhselvi to marry him. Aathiseshan, leveraging his political influence, instigates legal action against Sivaji, undermining the establishment of the Sivaji Foundation. In court, Sivaji confesses to the bribes he was forced to pay. The judgment, favoring Aathiseshan, results in the closure of the Sivaji Foundation. Left destitute, Sivaji refuses to be defeated and formulates a daring plan. With assistance from his uncle, Arivu, Sivaji uncovers evidence of Aathiseshan's illicit earnings worth ₹2 billion. He then coerces Aathiseshan into surrendering half of this wealth. Although Aathiseshan attempts to ambush Sivaji, the latter overcomes the assault and secures both the money and incriminating documents. Utilizing this windfall, Sivaji exposes similar corruption across Tamil Nadu, compelling the guilty to surrender half of their illicit wealth. He subsequently transfers this wealth to New York, where it is distributed to his friends' bank accounts globally, via an intricate hawala network. This money is then donated to the Sivaji Foundation, thus legitimizing it. Finally, Sivaji alerts the Income Tax Investigation and Vigilance Department about the tax evaders, including Aathiseshan, leading to their arrest and vindicating his cause. Sivaji skillfully coerces the chief minister, who was under Aathiseshan's influence, to legally reopen his foundation. The foundation soon flourishes, providing free, high-quality education, infrastructure, and employment to residents throughout Tamil Nadu. However, under Aathiseshan's direction, the manipulated officials use Tamizhselvi's naivety against Sivaji. Concerned for Sivaji's safety, she gives Sivaji's laptop—containing evidence of illicit money transactions—to the CBI and Income Tax officers hired by Aathiseshan. Armed with this incriminating evidence, Sivaji is arrested. Aathiseshan and the police demand that Sivaji unlock his laptop using a voice-detection program designed to recognize only Sivaji's voice. When he refuses, Aathiseshan subjects him to severe torture, nearly causing his death. To conceal their actions, Aathiseshan and the police arrange for mercenaries to attack the police van transporting Sivaji, intending to stage it as a third-party murder. Yet, forewarned by a sympathetic police constable, Sivaji feigns his death, and in a solitary moment, he self-induces an electric shock, losing consciousness. Sivaji's friends—Dr. Chezhian, Tamizhselvi, and Arivu—intercept the police van after receiving an alert from Sivaji. They replace Sivaji with a decoy before the hired mercenaries strike. As the world believes Sivaji to be dead, Chezhian revives him using a defibrillator. Even after Sivaji's supposed death, Aathiseshan and the CBI continue their futile attempts to unlock Sivaji's laptop. In their failure, all data is wiped clean. Days later, with the future of the Sivaji Foundation in question, a rejuvenated Sivaji reemerges under the guise of an NRI friend, M.G. Ravichandran. Although Aathiseshan recognizes him, he's unable to prove Sivaji's true identity to the police, hampered by the evidence of Sivaji's 'death' and Ravichandran's credentials. In a dramatic confrontation, Sivaji and Aathiseshan engage in a fierce rooftop battle atop Aathiseshan's medical college. In the chaos, Aathiseshan unintentionally dislodges a hidden stash of money. The students, spotting the scattered cash, stampede, inadvertently causing Aathiseshan's demise. The Sivaji Foundation emerges as a pioneering force in India's economic and industrial ascension. The story concludes with Sivaji serving a brief jail term for money laundering, and India rising as a superpower by 2030.
