"When a feared politician and his gangster son set their sights on a hostel warden, they quickly discover that it is he who poses the real threat."

Plot

Kaali, a seemingly elderly man with a mysterious aura, assumes the role of a boys' hostel warden at a college in Ooty. Upon his arrival, he observes that the hostel is under the control of a rowdy group of final-year students. The group is led by Michael, a spoiled child of a local leader named Gnanam. Determined to restore order, Kaali curbs Michael's disruptive behavior, instigating a rivalry between them. In the midst of this, Kaali develops a close relationship with an NRI student, Anwar, who is romantically involved with Anu, the daughter of a pranic healer named Mangalam. Kaali persuades Mangalam to approve her daughter's relationship with Anwar, and the two fall deeply in love. This infuriates Michael, who harbors feelings for Anu, and he attempts to intimidate the couple. However, his efforts are thwarted by Kaali. As a result of their misconduct, Michael and his gang are suspended. Anwar records their humiliation and shares the video online, attracting the attention of Jithu, a notorious goon from Uttar Pradesh. Jithu is the son of a powerful politician, Singaaram alias Singaar Singh. Upon noticing Anwar in the video and a photo with his mother on Facebook, Singaar orders his men to eliminate Anwar for reasons yet to be disclosed. Simultaneously, a disgraced Michael seeks revenge by sending his men to attack Kaali. His plan backfires when they become entangled in a fight between Kaali and Singaar's men. Kaali successfully defeats Singaar's henchmen, gaining respect from Michael and Gnanam. In the aftermath, Anwar learns about Kaali's past from a friend. It's revealed that Anwar is the son of Maalik, Kaali's best friend, and that Kaali's true identity is Petta Velan, a revered man from a village in Madurai. In the past, Maalik and Petta discover that Devaram and Singaar are involved in an illegal sand mafia operation. Their intervention leads to Devaram's arrest. Petta finds out that Maalik was in love with Devaram and Singaar's sister, Poongodi, who was pregnant with his child. Despite initial reluctance, Petta and his wife, Saraswathy "Saro", persuade Poongodi's father, Rajapandi, to allow Poongodi to marry Maalik. Devaram and Singaar vehemently oppose this union and the transfer of property rights to Poongodi. Following Maalik and Poongodi's marriage, Devaram and Singaar murder Rajapandi. In retaliation, Petta kills Devaram and drives Singaar out of the village. A vengeful Singaar orchestrates a bomb blast at Poongodi's baby shower, resulting in the deaths of Maalik, Saro, and Petta's son, Chinna. Discovering that Poongodi survived the attack, Petta ensures her safety. Poongodi later gives birth to a boy, Anwar, and they flee to Australia to escape Singaar's wrath. In the present, after learning his history, Petta, Anwar, and Michael's gang depart for Uttar Pradesh to confront Singaar. Petta and Anwar encounter Jithu, who is bent on killing them after being informed about their identities by his father. However, Petta and Anwar manage to evade Jithu. In a private meeting, Petta makes a startling revelation to Jithu. He claims that Jithu is in fact his son, Chinna, who had survived the blast and was subsequently adopted by Singaar from the ruins. Upon confronting Singaar about his true parentage, Jithu faces a lethal response. Singaar orders his men to execute Jithu, but Petta intervenes, saving his life. Petta, joining forces with Anwar and Michael's henchmen, orchestrates a daring ambush on Singaar's mansion. They overpower Singaar's guards, paving the way for a face-off between Petta and Singaar. Petta takes down Singaar with a decisive shot. In the aftermath of Singaar's death, Petta makes another shocking revelation. He discloses that Jithu is not his son but Singaar's, and he had manipulated Jithu to track down Singaar as part of his strategic plan for revenge. He also confesses that Chinna had indeed perished in the bomb explosion. Following this revelation, Petta, in a dramatic turn of events, holds Jithu at gunpoint and tragically ends his life.
